11. Writes an article for every issue of council newsletter (should be
motivational andshould acknowledge all individual, committee and
council accomplishments;
should recognize Knight and Family of the Month; should promote
important
upcoming events and encourage active participation by all members;
should
provide a brief overview of the highlights of the officers and general
council
meetings)
12. Attends all District and Diocesan meetings and training sessions
and assures that
all elected and appointed officers make every effort to also attend
District and
Diocesan meetings and available training (requires designated officers
and
directors to be in attendance in keeping with State Diocesan and
District meeting
and training requirements)
13. Oversees the proper exemplification of the First Degree ceremony
(is familiar with
the First Degree Ceremonial Guide and makes it a practice to critique
the degree
team and review comments on what the team (and individual members) are
doing well and where improvement is needed)
14. Participates in First Degree ceremony
15. Ensures that all reports and forms are submitted on time (Refer to
State
Leadership Directory, State Leadership Guide and/or state website for a
complete
list of forms and due dates)
16. Interacts with the Financial Secretary and Treasurer to ensure all
council financial
obligations are met and that records are properly kept
17. Establishes and maintains an active, working relationship with the
council
Trustees and solicits their active participation in the strategic
planning, program
leadership and council operations as needed
18. Checks and countersigns all council vouchers
19. Checks (and may countersign) all checks written by the council
20. Attends all council functions whenever possible (the Grand Knight
is the Councils’
senior executive and as such, should be actively promoting the good
works of the
council and the order as well as edifying all members and volunteers
who actively
participate in all council activities. A good Grand Knight knows that
every new
person he meets is an opportunity for a new member)
21. Mails the Service Program Personnel Report (Form #365) to the
Supreme
Council Department of fraternal Services as soon as he has appointed
the
majority of his council’s Service Program personnel
22. Issues the call for a semiannual audit and is responsible for the
scheduling of and
the completion of the audit by the Council Trustees. Also, advises
District Deputy
of date and time of audit in the event that the District Deputy desires
to attend.
