Grand
Knight
23. Causes an annual calendar of all council activities to be published
annually, inadvance of the start of the fraternal year and provides
copies to the parish office,
the District Deputy and all council elected and appointed officers.
Also makes
same available to all council members in attendance at each council
meeting.
24. Schedules the council annual Strategic Planning Meeting. This
meeting should
be mandatory for all elected and appointed officers and optional for
any brother
knight who is responsible for a particular activity or has an interest
in greater
responsibilities within the council.
25. Assures that the Financial Secretary prepares and submits the
council annual
budget for review and discussion at the Strategic Planning Meeting.
26. Assures that the Council Membership Director has prepared and
submitted a
written plan for membership recruitment at the Strategic Planning
Meeting that
will meet and/or exceed that coming fraternal year’s quota.
27. Assures that the Council Program Director has prepared (working in
concert with
appointed Individual Program Directors) and submitted a written plan
for all
council program activity that will assure the councils achievement of
all
requirements to qualify for the Supreme Columbian Award and the
Michigan
Achievement Award.
28. Solicits feedback from fellow officers and appointed directors for
Knight of the
Month and Family of the month recipients and presents award
certificates and
recognizes recipients in monthly newsletter and parish bulletin (refer
to pages 77
and 78 for detailed information on selection process).
29. Reviews all criteria for Knight of the Year and Family of the Year
and makes his
selection accordingly (refer to pages 77 and 78 for detailed
information on
selection process). Schedules presentation of awards at a special
council event
and recognizes recipients in monthly newsletter, parish bulletin and in
local media
serving the community.
30. Meets on a regularly scheduled basis with the Pastor of the Parish
to review the
progress of the parish, and to review the needs of the parish where the
council
can provide assistance. (Note: not all Pastors will make time for this
(in some
cases, for any) meeting with the council…do not
despair…through prayer and
faith, Our Lord, the Blessed Mother, our Patroness and Father McGivney
will
guide your council activities)
31. Identifies active members and makes recommendations to council
Nominations
Committee for new officers. Also consults with the Deputy Grand Knight
and the
immediate Past Grand Knight on the appointment of council directors to
assure
the continued leadership of the council.
32. Promotes the active participation of families at Corporate
Communions and other
scheduled family events.
33. Initiates and maintains “mentor” program for
all new knights to assure that each
new member is personally invited to each membership meeting, and that
each
new member is actively participating in some council program activity.
This
“mentor” program is to be established with the
active participation of the Deputy
Grand Knight, the Council Membership Director and the council Programs
Director.
34. In addition to his own responsibilities, a responsible Grand Knight
is inherently
familiar with the duties and responsibilities of all elected and
appointed positions
within the council. In this manner, there can be a complete
understanding of, and full
accountability for those responsibilities between the Grand Knight and
the individual
that has been elected or appointed to a specific role.
